Experience the layback atmosphere of Mar Chiquita Beach! A sheltered cove almost completely enclosed by jagged rocks, creating a pool for swimming and soaking under the sun at the town of Manati. Umbrellas and chair rentals are available occasionally, along with some food trucks and stands mostly during the weekends, where you may find authentic Puerto Rican fritters and refreshing drinks. On the way out of the cove, a quick pitstop will be made at one of the many small caves found along the entire northern karst zone of Puerto Rico. There you may seize the opportunity to snap a few cool pictures with some natural stalactites of the cave ceiling as background. Along the way to our second stop scheduled for the day (Puerto Nuevo Beach at Vega Baja), you’ll get a small taste of Puerto Rican local bar hopping better known as “Chinchorreo”. Once you’ve enjoyed the golden sands of Vega Baja beach which offer magnificent views and photo opportunities. There will be one last stop at a restaurant to savor a little local gastronomy before turning back for the day.

Explore the enticing world of Rum through one of the most renown distilleries, and ending with one of the most unique and newest rums. Indulge in a tasting Ron del Barrilito, a recipe from 1880 that provides an experience of escalated aging with its 4 barrel aged rums. Transition into a beach side kiosk for a beautiful lunch. In the end, we head to Old San Juan, to the hidden gem, Scryer, a barrel house with its unique take on rum to experience each section of their aging process and their final product. You can grab a bite to eat at their rooftop and enjoy their occasional special events.

Start by enjoying a quick photo opportunity of the tallest statue in the United States hemisphere know as Birth of the New World, a colossal sculpture in honor of Christopher Columbus at Arecibo. Moving on down the coastline we visit Cueva del Indio, which feature amazing Taino petroglyphs as well as breathtaking coastal land bridges. A little further down the road we find the Arecibo lighthouse right next to Bishop’s pond beach, a popular water hole spot. Then, after a lunch stop at a local fresh seafood restaurant, we follow our quest towards the west coast; but not before exploring the historical site of the Guajataca railroad tunnel and a short pitstop at the Cara del Indio monument in Isabela. Next stop is Surfer’s beach in Aguadilla, right next to the ruins of the original Punta Borinquen lighthouse as we drive by Borinquen beach. Finally, we visit the historical downtown area of Aguadilla while appreciating a classic Puerto Rico’s west coast sunset before heading back to San Juan.

Explore the historical site of the Guajataca railroad tunnel along with its secluded secret beach spot, followed by a short pitstop at the Cara del Indio monument of Isabela. From there we venture to the popular Crash Boat beach of Aguadilla and visit the historical downtown area for some local tapas and cocktails, while discovering the classic west coast culture. Finally, we head down to the most western town of the island, Rincon. There we see Punta Las Higuera lighthouse right next to an old nuclear power plant, and Domes beach along with a few other local favorites. We end up at the Tamboo Tavern beachfront deck restaurant in time to experience a unique sunset in all its prestige and essence at the west.
